We live in an era of information, data and stats. Everywhere we turn, we count views, subscribers, followers and likes.
Social media provides the benefit of allowing businesses and creative people access to analytics that we didn’t have before. These days, it’s as common as the oxygen we breathe.
This holds true for creative DIYers like us, who have built our own websites through WIX. As we near the one-year anniversary of our website (January 2025), it’s been insightful to study our analytics. We can see categories like unique views, bounce rate, traffic location, and google keyword searches. Some of ours include ‘tin pan darlings videos’, ‘tin pan darlings songs’, and ‘tin pan group’. All pretty standard.
However, we were surprised to find another top keyword search was…(drum roll, please)...
‘tin pan darlings age’
Umm. Wait. Wut?
Suffice it to say that the Tin Pan Darlings operate in a somewhat ‘Houdini-disappearing-act' fashion. We pop up for a brief period, then settle back into obscurity, for better or for worse. Some may call it ‘under the radar’. We call it mysterious - catch us if you can.
Like every woman who ever lived in the history of our modern society, we are well aware that for the female performer, the unspoken expectation is that you don't show your age. You remain forever luminescent, waif-ish and attractive. Or, you decide to take the witchy route, which is just fine too. In our case, we aren't young, but we aren't old, either. Oops, did we just reveal too much?? Better zip a lip.
If you feel compelled to search us up on Wikipedia, you’re out of luck. We don’t have a page, and you won’t find our DOBs. We’re on social media but play it conservatively – you will find that we hardly ever post what we ate for breakfast. Very few pet pics. Do we have kids? Are we married? We're no Taylor Swift, but we can understand how she must feel about the subject. Cross-examine as you see fit, we admit nothing!
I know you may be disappointed with what little information I’ve revealed. You’re asking yourself, why did I even bother reading this post? The same questions are in the eyes of many audience members, and even fellow musicians. Who is older? Who is younger? Which one is Amy? Which one is Tracy? If you didn’t know, yes – we are sisters – we grew up in a tiny little village called Debec, located in the woods of New Brunswick, very close to US border. It's almost as obscure as that James Booker album you bought last time you went on vacation to the big city.
